Chestnut Race Reminders
Inspection
Only registered racers and race officials are allowed inside the race arena at any time. Racers must inspect with their coaches. There is no parallel skiing allowed during inspection. You must SLIP. They may ask us to inspect from the outside only. Do not touch a gate during inspection. Do not cross the finish line during inspection.
All registered names appear on the start list regardless of whether racer is actually in attendance. So if you are 15th in U14 girls, and 10 of the girls before you are absent, you will actually run 5th. They will call numbers and skip missing racers.
If you don’t have your bib, notify your coach at inspection. Bibs are at the morning tables with the parents.
If you miss your start, go to the end of your age class. If you miss your age class, go to the end of your gender.
If you fall, there is no hiking in GS. Quickly gather your stuff and get out of the way. There is a racer on course behind you.
If you are interfered with, perhaps there is something on the course or the racer ahead of you is slow, stop immediately and move find a gatekeeper or race official and ask for a re run. Do not leave the fenced in race arena and DO NOT cross the finish line. Losing a ski or any piece of equipment is not grounds for a rerun. After reporting to a race official, find your coach at the bottom. If your coach is not at the bottom, ride the chair and find your coach at the top. Go immediately to the front of the line for a re run.
Similarly, if you are told you have a re run go to the front of the line when you are ready.
Stop and see your coach at the bottom after your run – do this BEFORE stopping to talk to friends and parents. You may have a re run and only your coach may know this.
If you are leaving the race arena to go inside or take free runs, let your coach know and find out when you should be back at the top.
If you do not have a posted time on the scoreboard, notify your coach immediately.
If you are leaving for the day, notify your coach.
The start order remains the same for every run and every race regardless if you took your previous run or if you fell or did not finish. You get your next run no matter what.
Saturday is GS. No chin bars or pole guards. Hard sided GS approved race helmets only. No additional helmet mounts or adornments are permitted. Please show up at the start with helmet buckled, pole straps on, and clothing stripped down to whatever layer you will race in. The bib must be readable and worn on the top layer.
Awards are presented daily after racing for 1-5th place inside where we meet in the morning.
Have fun and ski fast!
