RACE LEAGUE COMPARISON
WIJARA or USSA races are one of the most enjoyable aspect of the Wilmot ski team for many of the athletes and their families. Attending the races is a great way for the Wilmot athletes and families to get to know one another and make connections with new friends on the team. Competing in races is exhilarating, no matter how the athlete finishes, providing a good benchmark for future development and motivation for training. Since the results are largely individual, the only pressure on an athlete to perform is the pressure they put on themselves. As a result, an athlete does not let the team down regardless of the place he or she achieves, contributing to a highly supportive atmosphere amongst the team. Over time, the athletes and their families often make friends and connections with members of other teams as well.
Team Members that are in their second year, or beyond, with the team are required to participate in at least two race weekends with the team. First year racers are exempt from this requirement. The team participates in both the WIJARA race series and USSA Region 2 races.
