Training Update & First Race
Wilmot Ski Team,
Great news! Management has approved my request to allow ALL team members, regardless of registration for weeknights, to train this week Tues and Thurs night. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of the early opening of the hill and help get our ski legs!
Training is 5:30-7:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday. On 12/6 and 12/8, all team members are welcome to train.
We will train SL and may set some stubbies if you want to use shin guards. Most likely it will be brushes and skills and drills. No chin bars or pole guards are necessary.
On 12/13 we will begin our regular T/Th weeknight training, open only to those who register and pay for weeknight training.
From here on, our schedule should be as previously stated, Sat/Sun 9:30-12:30
No training 12/25 and 1/1
Race Camp mornings 12/27, 12/28, 12/29 and 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 (no evenings on Camp days, only the morning camp).
We will not be sending notices for each practice, and we will assume all practices are SL unless otherwise noted.
We have a TeamSnap with more regular info and ability to contact other team members- please accept the Wilmot Race Team invitation from TeamSnap when you receive it. Further TeamSnap questions should go to parent coordinator, Bob Vasa.
Wijara Racing – 1st race Jan 7 & 8
Wijara season registration is open – this is one registration and one fee that covers the entire 2023 racing season. Most racers will want to sign up and attend at least one, and probably all four weekends. This registration covers you for the season.
One note about the first race at Chestnut- while Chestnut is a bigger hill and has some significant steeps, the U8, U10, U12 race course is on the Blackhawk run which is probably the easiest terrain of all Wijara races and a good hill for first time U8, U10 and U12 racers regardless of skill or experience.
Here is the registration link – please register asap so we can plan accordingly.
