Sundown Race Info

It looks like we have over 60 racers attending. Final start orders will be out today.

We will be the first inspection group at 8am. Both courses meet at the same start shack at the top. U8/10/12 are on skiers right of the shack. U14/16/18/20 are on skiers left of the start shack. Sundown is another “upside down” resort where parking and the chalet are at the top.

The lodge is small so it’s best to arrive early and boot up at the car and walk directly to the start. Lift tickets are in the Mountain Center and can be picked up Fri night or at 7am Sat morning. If picking up Sat morning, stop there first then drive to the last parking lot nearest the start. Follow the crowd.

Parents, the best viewing at Sundown without skis is from the TOP. There is also a heated machine shop / large garage at the start where they set up benches and sell coffee, donuts and lunch. At Sundown we all hang out around the start area, this machine shed, and the scoreboard area outside the garage.

Racers should check in with a coach at the bottom after each run. If there is no coach at the bottom take the lift up and check in at the top. If you have a re run, your coach will be waiting for you at the top of the race chairlift   Always take this lift up following your run. We tend to get a lot of re runs at this race.

If you are interfered with on course, stop immediately and tell a gatekeeper or race official. Stay INSIDE the course ropes but out of the way of oncoming racers. Do NOT cross the finish line. Slowly ski down and find your coach and head up for a rerun.

If you miss a gate or lose a ski or fall, there is NO hiking on Saturday in GS. Please gather your gear and move out of the way quickly. Another racer is on the course behind you. Equipment failure or missing a gate are not reasons for a re run.

All racers will start in the same order of every run of every race all weekend, regardless of what happened the prior run. Also remember that not all racers that appear on the start list are actually in attendance and your number may come up much earlier than expected. Be aware and don’t miss your start. If you miss, tell your coach and go to the end of your age class.

Awards follow the second race and pizza party will wait if the day runs long.

Please try and bring your own wax and files for tuning – we will have the rest. U16/18/20 kids who have been on the team more than a year, we expect you to help lead us in ski tuning Sat night!

As for TeamSnap messages – more info to follow, but please use the DM function and refrain from too many messages here in this chat over race weekends. Coaches and parents will use this chat to distribute important race messages and updates.

Sundown uses the REMIND app so please go there for updates as to which age class in running etc.
